Project Details:

Advanced-Tech for Branches (SILT) Project covers the renewal of Yapi Kredi Bank's banking software applications developed by IBM as desktop-clients, as a result of the company's decleration of ceasing OS/2 customer support. In the scope of the project, the existing applications running on OS/2 operating systems were replaced by Java based applications, developed by CYBERSOFT.

Features & Benefits

Existing applications used to run on a specific technical infrastructure that uses the special features of OS/2 operating system intensively such as memory-sharing feature between tasks. Therefore, a total transition to a new platform was technically a very complex task. During this transition process, Yapi Kredi Bank's IT development team that is responsible of future developments and system maintanence were included in all phases of the trainings provided by CYBERSOFT, in order to equip them with the essential knowledge on Java platform and programming language.

Additionally, a management-focused version of these trainings were provided to the top-management levels of the Bank on object-oriented approach, analysis, design and visual modeling with UML. This set of trainings were highly appreciated by Bank's high-level management staff.

Trainings Provided

Members of Yapi Kredi Bank's IT Development Team were trained on the following technologies:

  • Object-oriented software programming + "iterative incremental" software development
  • Multi-layer software architecture
  • Object-oriented analysis and design + visual modeling with UML, Rational Rose and CASE tools.
  • Java and J2EE programming language and application development
  • IT mentoring (a 2-weeks advanced application development session under CYBERSOFT's supervision)
